February 22 is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the Season of Lent. For centuries, much of the Church has used this time for a special devotion to prayer and fasting. In the past, we have encouraged folks in Living Word to do the same.

 

As in the past, we are encouraging everyone to consider fasting with prayer during Lent. What you choose to fast, we will leave up to you to decide. We also have put together a simple Prayer Guide to direct our times of prayer during Lent. Click the link above to view guide.

 

Fasting is part of our devotion to the Lord, just like praying, reading the Scriptures and coming together for corporate worship. The New Testament speaks of fasting but does not specify how often believers should fast.

 

So over the next week, we encourage you to seek the Lord and ask Him to direct you in how He would want you to approach Lent this year.
